Not Sure of Your Helmet Size?
We always recommend getting professionally fitted at your local Champion stockist to determine both your helmet size (in cm) and head shape (round or oval).
1: If You Already Own a Well-Fitting Helmet
If your current helmet fits comfortably and was fitted by a trained professional, follow these steps:
Step 1. Check the size label
Find the size on the inside of your current helmet (usually in cm). You can use this as a guide for ordering your new helmet.
Step 2. Assess the fit
A well-fitting helmet should:
- Feel snug, with enough grip to move your eyebrows when gently rocked
- Sit just above your eyebrows and cover the occipital bone (the bump at the back of your head)
- Have no large gaps at the temples or around the rim
- Not cause discomfort or pressure when clenching your teeth
Step 3. Check the head shape
Different Champion helmets suit different head shapes:
- Oval head shape = Vent-Air, RW, Pro-Lite, Insight ranges
- Round head shape = X-Air, Pro-Plus, Euro Deluxe, Insight, Pro-Lite ranges
2: If You Don’t Know Your Helmet Size or Fit Isn’t Quite Right
If you're unsure of your size or your current helmet doesn't fit well, we recommend visiting a trusted Champion retailer for a fitting.
Use our Stockist Locator to find your nearest fitter.
3: Measuring at Home
If you're unable to visit a retailer, you can measure at home and adjust the fit using Champion’s interchangeable liner system.
The Meg Elphick Insight SE Helmet is available in three shell sizes, with removable liners that determine both the helmet size (in cm) and head shape.
How to measure:
- Use a soft fabric measuring tape
- Position it ½ inch (13mm) above your eyebrows
- Pass it over the tops of your ears and around the widest part of your head
- Smooth over any thick hair to ensure an accurate measurement
- Take the reading from 0cm
Example:
If your head measures 54cm, we recommend ordering the helmet with a selection of liners:
- 55cm Oval
- 56cm Oval
- 55cm Round
- 56cm Round
You can then try the different liners at home to find the best fit.

How to measure your head

Understanding Shell Sizes and Liner Fit:
Your measurement determines which shell size you need, and then which liner size and shape to choose.
Each shell can accommodate multiple liner sizes. For example:
- If your head measures 54cm, you would need a Medium shell
- Within the Medium shell, you can choose either a 54cm-57cm in Oval, or a 53cm-56cm in Round
- For example, you cannot use a 57cm round liner in a Medium shell — that size is only compatible with the Large shell.
- This allows you to fine-tune the fit at home
Tip:
If you're between sizes (e.g. 54.5cm), we recommend ordering a couple of liners (e.g. 55cm and 56cm, round and oval) to test which shape and size works best for you. Please contact our customer service team if you need any assistance.
Returns:
Interchangeable liners can be returned free of charge within 30 days. Please visit our Returns Page for more information.
